🔋 Do you manage renewable plants with curtailments? Discover the opportunity offered by BESS storage systems.

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) are no longer just a technical improvement; they represent a clear opportunity to generate additional daily margins.

📈 The Spanish electricity market shows intraday spreads, the difference between daily low and high prices, that have ranged between 70 and 95 €/MWh during 2024 and what we have seen so far in 2025. With a levelized BESS system cost, including installation, permits and maintenance, of approximately 43 €/MWh, you can obtain consistent daily net margins of between 30 and 50 €/MWh for each full charge and discharge cycle.

🌞 But that is not all: in plants with surplus energy caused by curtailment, profitability increases significantly. Since the surplus energy destined for curtailment would have zero cost, the daily margin would no longer depend on the intraday spread, but directly on the daily maximum price.

👉 With daily market peak prices exceeding 110 €/MWh in 2025, the potential margin increases considerably, reaching values above 65 €/MWh.

💡 BESS transforms the technical constraint, curtailment, into a direct and secure source of additional revenue.

📌 It is time to turn technical limitations into strategic and economic opportunities.
